RE: 2009 F150 Heavy Duty Payload Package

– GAWR/springs, front—To be provided at a later date
– GAWR/springs, rear— To be provided at a later date.
– Frame upgrade (.150" rail thickness)
– Super Engine Cooling
– 72 amp-hr./650 CCA battery
– 6-channel (18-plate) oil-to-water auxiliary transmission oil cooler
– LT245/70Rx17D BSW all-terrain tires (five)

RE: Sell your RV because fuel costs too much

I speculate those that are selling due to fuel costs are those that have not been out since fuel was $2 a gallon. If it has been sitting four or more years with only higher fuel in the crystal ball then they may as well sell it. I fugure the more you use it the lower your cost per day or mile.

RE: Powdery stuff from batteries

Check your charging voltage levels and water levels in the battery to minimize gassing that can push some sulfuric acid out of the caps. Once the battery is charged 13.2 to 13.6 volts is plenty. Check water after charging and it should be above the plates but below the split ring that extends down into the cell.
The white stuff is, lead sulphate, iron sulphate etc from the acid getting on the metals. It is water soluble but may take some time. Baking soda will neutralize the acid. Get to an autostore and buy some spray on battery terminal cleaner and a can of spray on protectant. Use this products generously to minimize future trouble.

RE: What converter do i have?

Thanks Guys on the info. The converter works fine i just wanted to know what would charge the battery faster.A manual would be nice.I don't know the model # on the charger i think it is a older model it has a switch for Automatic/Manual/Maintenace Free.
PS I do have the model # CRMF612 Schaver
Use both at the same time. When the battery is real low they will both put power into the battery. As the battery charge level and voltage increase the converter will taper off the charge current and the battery charger will supply more of the power. On the automatic setting the charger should taper off or shut off as the battery becomes fully charged. You can take voltage readings right on the battery terminals.

RE: 2009 F150 specs 5.4L V8 gas - 320hp/390tq, 6 speed auto

Still no manual transmission? I will have to pass again for 2009.
They are gone. If you want one you'll only be able to get them on F250/350.
Just try building a 250/350 with a manual trans and bucket seats. That is what I am looking for.

RE: RV with all Electric range of 800 miles?

Many people are still missing the basic issue. Weight vs energy. A lead/acid battery has 50W-hr/kg. Lithium/ion battery has 150W-hr/kg. Gas has 12722W-hr/kg. Diesel will be 30% higher.
Gas/diesel seem much higher because the other side of the equation is that you add air at about 15 pounds to 1 pound of fuel. So you only have to carry 1/16th of the chemicals that get burned. With batteries you have to carry both sides of the chemical reaction. My point is it might be feasable if you do not need 600+ mile range and 20 minute fill ups. Battery power is far from a slam dunk as far as being practical for most people.

RE: bias or radial tires

So far I plan to put those exact radial Maxxis on my trailer as soon as the bias Duros wear out. Probably next year.

You are sure the fridge is not on automatic or the battery is not low and taking some of the power?

RE: RV with all Electric range of 800 miles?

I would size the generator at about half the average power need. I still want to arrive with dead batteries and refuel that electric energy tank for free. This of course would limit the daily travel distance. I think you could get close to double the "mileage" with half battery power and half generator. Energy consumed might even be more but capitalizing on the overnight stay with unmetered electric power would be the benefit.

Post a picture might solve a wire issue.
Measure the actual battery terminal voltage on each and make sure they are the same.

RE: Must dump when checking in -- is this common?

We stayed at the Jackson Rancheria Campground about a month ago. Yes, they do require that you dump your black water tank before you enter their campground. It's really no big deal. While I went into the office to register, the attendant took care of this chore. They also gave us a bottle of chemicals to use in our holding tank.
Do they have full hook ups? I am thinking the initial dump goes in the sewer and the sites' waste is septic or minimally treated for irrigation reuse.
Many land owners pay fees to the sewer treatment facility based on actual flow. So they try to give the worst to the county treatment and keep the "cleaner" waste on site to reduce fees.

RE: Any interesting route from West yellowstone to So. Calif.

Might think about cutting over and going down thru Arco, old nuclear site, then Twin Falls to US 93 to Ely then toward Las Vegas. Different route some better scenery then all interstates.
This is about the shortest route and I have been up many times visiting relations in Twin Falls. Nice two lane road to vegas.
80/395 is longer but would be my choice if time is not a big issue.

Less than an ounce and balanace is probably not neeeded. However you only know it is less than an ounce by putting it on the machine and then you may as well make it right.
